The Ponchatoula girls basketball team leads District 6-5A with a 3-0 record after getting a win over Mandeville 59-42 on Tuesday.

The Lady Wave was down at the end of the first quarter 18-13, but they found a spark from Jaylee Womack who went into the next period and scored 13 points of the team’s 17 points in a single quarter.

Ponchatoula’s defense also held Mandeville to three points in the second quarter to help produce a Lady Wave 28-19 lead at halftime.

The Skippers were led by Jaylyn James who had 22 points.

The Lady Wave was led by Amoura Graves who scored 10 of her 21 total points in the fourth quarter as Ponchatoula would go on an 18-9 run in the final period to end the game with a 59-42 final score.

Ponchatoula’s overall record is 16-0.
