Amite, Ponchatoula remain No. 4

Amite and Ponchatoula remain No. 4 in the LSWA rankings for Class 2A and Class 5A, respectively.

Amite and Ponchatoula remain No. 4 in their respective classes of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association poll, released Tuesday.

Ponchatoula remains in the No. 4 spot in Class 5A behind a 37-21 win over Mandeville Friday.

Catholic of Baton Rouge (6-0, 1-0) remains in the top spot with No. 2 Zachary (6-0, 1-0), No. 3 Brother Martin (4-0, 3-0) and Ponchatoula all just behind with undefeated starts to the season.

No. 5 Acadiana (4-2, 3-0), No. 6 Captain Shreeve (6-0, 3-0) No. 7 Ruston (5-1, 1-0), No. 8 John Curtis (2-1, 2-0), No. 9 West Monroe (3-2, 1-0) and No. 10 Destrehan (3-0, 3-0) all follow the Green Wave.

West Monroe was the only team not ranked in the previous poll.

Amite (4-0, 1-0) also remains in the No. 4 spot in Class 2A.

No. 1 Many (5-1, 2-0), No. 2 Lafayette Christian (5-1, 1-0) and No. 3 Newman (4-0, 1-0) are all just ahead of Amite at No. 4. Following the Warriors, No. 5 Mangham (5-1, 3-0) No. 6 Loreauville (6-0, 2-0), No. 7 St. Charles (4-0, 0-0), No. 8 Notre Dame (5-1, 1-0), No. 9 General Trass (6-0, 3-0) and No. 10 North Caddo (5-1, 0-0) make up the second half of the top-10 rankings.
