Eugene Ernest “Gene” Legendre, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away at Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at the age of 81.

He was born on May 4, 1939, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the only child of the late Lester Robert Legendre and Lucia Anita Talbot Legendre Ragan.

Gene was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the American Legion.

Gene is survived by his wife of 58 years this April 20th, Audrey A. Legendre; daughters, Reine Babin (Blaise), Sandy Carter (Randy), Tammy Keller (Karl), and Bonnie Falcon (John); grandchildren, Zachary, Ethan, Lincoln, Annie Claire, Sarah, Randy Jr. “Bubba,” Christopher, Cody, Katherine, Nicholas, and Brandon; and great grandchildren, Max, Oliver and Daisy.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 p.m., with Fr. Cayet Mangiaracina officiating.

Interment will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
