Dennis Wallette, director of Tangipahoa Mosquito Abatement, has completed his term of American Mosquito Control Association President for 2022-2023.
This national organization is recognized for providing education and information for the betterment of public health and quality of life through mosquito control.
He will continue in the role of past president for the AMCA until 2024.
Dennis earned his Bachelor of Science in biology from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1987, and his Master of Science in entomology from Louisiana State University in 1999. He began his career in mosquito control when he was hired as a biologist at the East Baton Rouge Mosquito Abatement and Rodent Control District in 1990.
In 2002, he left to take the position of medical entomologist for the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals. In 2003, he was named director of the newly-created Tangipahoa Mosquito Abatement District.
In addition to his current role as AMCA past president, he is also a past president (2005) of the Louisiana Mosquito Control Association and served on their board of directors as secretary/treasurer for many years.
He is a member and past president (2018) of the Hammond-Ponchatoula Sunrisers Rotary Club and is the current vice-president of the Southeastern Lion Athletic Association. He has also served on the board of directors of the Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni Association. He is a 2009 graduate of Leadership Tangipahoa.
Dennis and his wife, Donna, live in Hammond.
Tangipahoa Mosquito Abatement congratulates Dennis for his hard work the past year as AMCA president, his numerous professional accomplishments and many years of hard work and service in mosquito control and thank him for all he has done.
He has given a great deal of time, effort and commitment to his community at the parish, state and national levels.
