Train hits 18-wheeler
Vehicles of police and first responders are parked along the railroad tracks and US 51 Business at the southernmost railroad crossing in Ponchatoula on Monday afternoon. At far left is an overturned 18-wheeler that encountered the Amtrak. Authorities said the driver of the 18-wheeler appeared to have suffered minor injuries and went to the hospital to get checked out. No one else was injured, but the 18-wheeler sustained considerable damage and the front of the passenger train was damaged as well.
