Authorities are looking for Laqonte Detray Turner Jr., 23, of Hammond, who has been identified as a suspect in the alleged rape of a Southeastern Louisiana University student two weeks ago, a city spokesperson said.

University police informed Hammond police on Oct. 24 that a female student said she had been raped at a location off-campus the night prior.

A warrant was issued on Nov. 4 for one count of second degree rape, the city spokesperson said.

Turner is also wanted by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office on two counts of accessory to second degree murder and two counts of obstruction of justice.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Turner is asked to call Detective Cody Taylor at 985-277-5756 or email to or call CrimeStoppers of Tangipahoa’s anonymous tip line at 1-800-554-5245.
