Seaman Quincy Marshall, a Hammond native, is stationed at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, home-port to all East Coast ballistic-missile and guided-missile submarines.
Marshall, a 2009 Eastland High School graduate, joined the Navy one year ago.
“I joined the Navy for a better opportunity, to help my family, serve my country and to continue the tradition of my two older brothers who are serving in the Army and Navy,” he said.
“I learned from Hammond to be fair and honest, work hard, stay humble and help everyone that you can,” said Marshall, a missile technican.
“Serving in the Navy means making my family, especially my mom, proud and doing something outside of what everyone else has done,” he said. “It means I am doing something that I can actually say I’m proud of.”
