Krewe of Omega plans to parade in Hammond on Feb. 5.

As New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell cancelled all the New Orleans parades and Baton Rouge officials discussed theirs, Krewe of Omega members met Wednesday at a social distanced general meeting and hold fast to their parade rolling – unless the governor cancels all parades or requires Covid restrictions that Omega just cannot meet.

The krewe will not give up their parade easily, said Linda Ross, Queen Omega XXXIII and Queen Omega XXXV.

Discussion topics also included membership status, Christmas Party, Twelfth Night and the Ball, but Queen Ross said the most discussed issue was the parade to be held Feb. 5, a Friday.

Thus far, Mayor Pete Pannepinto supports the parade rolling.

This is the krewe’s 35th anniversary and as a special addition, not one but 24 kings and queens will serve as Omega XXXV.

“So mark your calendars for Feb. 5 and await future news,” Queen Ross added.
