Man booked with Mooney Avenue shooting


A 21-year-old Hammond man is accused of shooting another person in the leg Friday night in the 900 block of Mooney Avenue, a city spokesperson said.

Witnesses told police the shooter fled in a red Chevrolet Camaro. Officers stopped the suspect vehicle traveling northward on North Morrison Boulevard and arrested Marques Harrison Jr.

They booked him into the city jail on charges of attempted second degree murder, attempted armed robbery, illegal discharge of a weapon, possession of Schedule I, II, and III Narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The statement issued by the city spokesperson did not provide further information about the victim and if he or she required medical treatment.
