Robert A. Taylor, 49, of Denham Springs, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for the murder of Michael Neufeld in Livingston Parish, said District Attorney Scott Perrilloux.

Taylor pleaded no contest to accessory – second degree murder, obstruction of justice by tampering with evidence, and unlawful disposal of remains.

Neufeld was reported missing June 30, 2018, and, following an unrelated arrest, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s officers were informed that Neufeld was murdered, dismembered and disposed of at Taylor’s residence.

Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives used a warrant to search the residence July 22 and questioned Taylor about his involvement in Neufeld’s murder.

Taylor admitted Neufeld was murdered, dismembered and the remains disposed in a wooded area off Hood Road in Denham Springs. He led detectives to three blue plastic barrels which contained the victim’s remains.

Assistant District Attorney Serena Birch represented the State of Louisiana; Judge Brian Abels handed down the sentence.
