District Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux reports that the following individuals appeared in court on April 27 before Judge Charlotte Foster, pleaded no contest to the following crimes and received the following sentences:

Felony Offenses:

Michael Brumfield, 41, of Hammond, aggravated obstruction of a highway. He was sentenced to seven years with the department of corrections. Time is to be served concurrently. He received credit for time served.

John Chavers, II, 26, of Hammond, simple cruelty to animals, two counts of simple criminal damage to property under $1,000, simple battery, and possession of schedule II controlled dangerous substance. He was sentenced to one year with the department of corrections. He received credit for time served.

Ashleigh King, 38, of Mandeville, possession of heroin and possession of a schedule II controlled dangerous substance. She was sentenced to two years with the department of corrections. The sentence was suspended, and she was placed on probation for three years. She is ordered to pay court costs and fees.

Steven Newsome, Jr., 19, of Hammond, two counts of theft of $5,000 or more, but less than $25,000. The sentence was deferred, and he was placed on probation for three years. He is ordered to pay a $500 fine, court costs and fees.

Tyren Reaux, 19, of Hammond, possession of a schedule I controlled dangerous substance. The sentence was deferred, and he was placed on probation for three years. He is ordered to pay a $500 fine, court costs and fees.

Christian Schexnayder, 20, of Hammond, monetary instrument abuse and possession of a schedule II controlled dangerous substance. He was sentenced to two years with the department of corrections. The sentence was suspended, and he was placed on probation for three years. He is ordered to pay court costs and fees.

Joi Wilson, 20, of Amite, obstruction of justice by tampering with evidence. She was sentenced to two years with the department of corrections. The sentence was deferred, and she was placed on probation for two years. She is ordered to pay a $500 fine, court costs and fees.

Tyler Wyre, 21, of Roseland, possession of firearm/ carrying concealed weapon by convicted felon. He was sentenced to five years with the department of corrections. He received credit for time served.

Misdemeanor Offenses:

Alexander Muse, 26, of Amite, simple battery. He received credit for time served, and the sentence was satisfied.

Juanquale Pea, 28, of Hammond, simple criminal damage to property valued at $1,000. She was sentenced to six months in the parish jail. The sentence was suspended, and she was placed on probation for two years. She is ordered to pay a $350 fine, court costs and fees.

Jaquala Robertson, 31, of Natalbany, misdemeanor automobile insurance fraud. She was sentenced to 90 days in the parish jail. The sentence was suspended, and she was placed on probation for one year. She is ordered to pay a $350 fine, court costs and fees.

Jazzmon Stanley, 44, of Hammond, two counts of simple criminal damage to property under $1,000, two counts of disturbing the peace – offensive words, entry on/ remaining in places/ land after being forbidden, and domestic abuse battery – first offense – household member. She received credit for time served, and the sentence was satisfied.
