Home Builders provide scholarship

Northshore Homebuilders Association Director Amy Ybarzabal watches as Chancellor William Wainwright signs partnership agreement.

Northshore Technical Community College has established a new endowed scholarship due to the generosity of the Northshore Home Builders Association.

The scholarship will support students who are enrolled in a Construction Pathways program at one of the Tangipahoa, St. Tammany or Washington parish campuses.

“The Northshore Homebuilders Association is pleased to partner with NTCC to increase the number of highly-skilled workers in the tri-parish area,” said association Director Amy Ybarzabal. “In addition to the establishment of the scholarship endowment, this partnership opens the door to other collaborative projects, including shared resources for continuing education for our members.”

Chancellor William Wainwright said, “We are providing workforce development and certification in electrical, welding, drafting, building technology, and HVAC. Students at the college can also choose to complete an associate's degree in construction pathways, then transfer to a university to pursue a bachelor’s degree.”

The NHBA is presenting a golf tournament on Nov. 19 to support the scholarship fund: http://business.northshorehba.org/events/details/nhba-golf-7841?calendarMonth=2020-11-01.

The NHBA donation will be matched by a gift from the Louisiana Construction Education Foundation. Interested students can apply online at www.northshorecollege.edu.
