Hammond Kiwanians fill shoeboxes
GIFTS FOR CHILDREN ABROAD — Packing boxes with Christman gifts are, from left, Camille Dufour, Merri Schneider, Becca Abel, Ed Gautier, Wayne Allen, Rosie Husser, Sid Guedry, Rev. Angie Kretzer, Roy Blackwood, Judy Couvillion, Mayson Foster, Hammond Kiwanis Club President Patrick Coudrain, and, in right foreground, Sister Manning and Sister Mansell, missionaries with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Members of the Hammond Kiwanis Club recently filled 150 shoeboxes with a wide variety of items destined for children in developing nations. The project was part of Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child shoebox ministry which provides gifts to children who might otherwise have nothing for Christmas. These boxes were delivered to the River Fellowship Church just east of Hammond, the shoebox collection center for a tri-parish area.
