A new curfew has been announced for inside the city limits of Hammond.

The City of Hammond's new curfew begins at 11 p.m. tonight and will be enforced by Hammond Police Department until 6 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Heading to work is always allowed during curfews, the police department added.

Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller confirmed that the parishwide curfew continues to be in effect from 7 p.m.- 6 a.m. until further notice as there are still areas without power and a lot of debris along the roads, which makes them unsafe.

"The cities should adjust according to their needs to provide a safe environment," Miller said.
