The Tangipahoa Regional Black Chamber spent Saturday promoting new businesses.

The organization's leaders hope other businesses join the chamber as a way to improve their presence in the community.

The intention is to help business owners write their business plans, gain resources and achieve business sustainability, they said.

The chamber is not an expo provider but will help where needed, the leaders said.

Business owners can also get discounts on tax preparation and use of meeting space.

Businesses from as far as Baton Rouge attended the event Saturday.

The women of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc., came out to help.
