Gala will be in memory of Judge

The family of Judge Grace Bennett Gasaway is honored that the Richard Murphy Hospice Foundation Gala will be in memory of Judge Gasaway.

The gala will be Dec. 4 at the Chappapeela Sports Center.

Judge Gasaway was the first president and incorporated the foundation. She led the organization for three terms and continued to support it until her death in June.

Her sister, Patricia Westmoreland, served as executive director for 31 years raising funds to build the Hospice House and oversaw the construction.

Mrs. Westmoreland and her husband, Leo, have been loyal supporters all these years and made a $5,000 contribution this year.

Judge Gasaway’s daughter, Brooke, acknowledged that this is such a honor for their family. She said she has been a product of the Richard Murphy House and the Gala since she could walk.

Her grandmother, Vera Bennett, was a volunteer and always brought her along.

She said she is amazed by the impact this organization has made in this community and the many families it has helped.

The announcement of the gala dedication was made during the Top Sponsor Party hosted by Anntoine Marketing + Design.
