Laney Saragusa is the first place winner in the Tangipahoa Parish Students Against Destructive Decisions calendar contest.

Ethan Buras came in second, and Sera Strauch placed third.

Judges selected a total of 12 pieces of original artwork by public and private school students depicting the benefits of living an alcohol-free life.

The 12 are: Jack Beard, Ethan Buras, Eliza Foster, Annie Fritz, Betsy Geisler, James Hanna, Daniel Hebert, JohnRoss Hoover, Laney Saragusa, Natalie Strayer and Ava Whisnant.

Their artwork is featured in the 2021-22 calendar, which will be distributed throughout the schools and the community, said Summer Smith, coalition coordinator for Tangipahoa Parish SADD.

Contest sponsors are the Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Behavioral Health’s Partnership for Success Grant II through Florida Parishes Human Services Authority.

Smith thanked business sponsors who donated their time, talents and resources.
