The public is invited to join Hammond Art Guild artists as they celebrate their annual judged open show for the 59th year.

Save Aug. 6 at the Hammond Regional Arts Center for a fun art-filled evening, 5-8 p.m., members said.

Awards will be presented in four categories, over $800 in cash awards, for the best in painting, photography, mixed media and sculpture.

This year’s judge David Lumpkin, is a Northshore artist represented by Ariodante Gallery in New Orleans.

Guests may vote for the People’s Choice Ribbon. There will also be a $1 a chance raffle of affordable art donated by exhibiting artists and live music with Michael Niedenfuer plus a wine bar hosted by the arts center.

The front window will showcase last year’s winning artworks, which were hardly seen, due to the COVID pandemic.

The arts center’s address is 217 E Thomas St. in downtown Hammond.

Admission will be open to the public and free.

The show will be available for viewing Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, noon to 6 p.m. through Sept. 3.
