Greg and Nancy Snow

Nancy Snow of Hammond was treated Sunday to Mother's Day jambalaya cooked by her sons.

Monday afternoon had more treats in store for Nancy and her son, Greg.

For another Mother's Day activity, they headed to the movie theater for a matinee.

"For the popcorn, too," Nancy Snow said.

Besides weekend outings with her family, Snow's favorite activities include reading, cooking and traveling, something she did about a year ago for her 50th wedding anniversary when she and her husband visited Alaska.

Her memories of the trip were especially fond on the hot May afternoon.

"It'd be nice to be there now, with this weather," she said.

She's lived in multiple locations, having been born in Arkansas and having resided in Baton Rouge for 30 years. She and her husband moved to the Texas Hill Country to retire, but moved back to Louisiana for their grandkids. They didn't want to move back to the capital, so they ended up in Hammond, where Snow loves frequenting the library, coffee shops, and downtown restaurants.

"We love Hammond. I love the historic district," she said.
