Judge denies modified plan hearing

Ending Tangipahoa’s nearly half-century old desegregation case is now on the line after officials learned Saturday a federal judge ruled against holding a hearing on a modified integration plan.

The plan – coined ‘A Better Plan for Tangipahoa Parish Schools’ – was approved 7-2 by the Tangipahoa Parish School Board on Sept. 12 despite immense criticism from parents in areas that would undergo rezoning.
