Joseph "Paw Joe" Anthony Bertone

Joseph "Paw Joe" Anthony Bertone was born on October 27, 1928 in Hammond, Louisiana and passed away on June 9, 2010 at his residence in Hammond, Louisiana.

Mr. Bertone was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, American Legion Post 156, and Allied Painters Union. He retired from Hammond Glass Works with 30 years of service and was a Veteran of the United States Army.

He is survived by 3 daughters and one son, Debbie and Rick Francis of Bush, Gail and Craig Derveloy of Springfield, Linda and Kevin McKinney of Natalbany; and Bobby and Cheri Bertone of Westfield, Massachusetts; one sister, Beatrice "Sis" Graziano of Hammond; grandchildren, Walter and Kristy Francis, Clint and Miranda Derveloy , Dominique Derveloy, Lorrinda and Scottie Mannino , Christopher McKinney & Brittany, Anthony McKinney, Brandon Bertone, Michael Bertone & Matt Chabot; and 7 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Strate Bertone, a son, Michael Edmond Bertone, his parents, John & Nellie Bertone, and a brother, Sam Bertone.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Geisler Funeral Home in Ponchatoula from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Parklawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center of Hammond or North Oaks Hospice.

Tippi Gonzales, 52 years old of Hammond, Louisiana, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010. She was born on April 27, 1958, in New Orleans, Louisiana, daughter of the late Sal Loyacano and the late Esther Loyacano. She was a retired Business Owner for DixieTree Service. Surviving are husband, Fredric Gonzales, son, Ryan Gonzales, daughter, Ashley Gonzales, granddaughter, Isabella Gonzales and brother, Ron Loyacano. To know Tippi was to love her. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who lived for her family. Her love for others was always apparent and that can forever be seen in those who knew and loved her. Friends will be received Saturday, June 12, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, Louisiana. Patrick Anthony Lentz

Mr. Patrick Anthony Lentz, 39 years old of Tickfaw, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010, in Hammond, LA. He was born on Wednesday, November 4, 1970, in Houma, LA. Mr. Lentz worked as a heavy equipment operator in the construction field. Surviving are his wife, Vicki Peterson Lentz; son, Patrick "PJ" Anthony Lentz Jr.; mother and step-father, Cindy and Gary Bauerle; father and step-mother, David and Wanda Lentz; 2 brothers, Jon and Mark Lentz; and his grandmother, Janet Gilcrease. Elizabeth Cox Russell

Age 86, a native of Meridian, Texas and a 20-year resident of Norwood, Elizabeth passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2010 at Landmark Nursing Home. She was a collector of everything who also enjoyed making crafts and was a member of Albany Missionary Baptist Church.

She leaves behind her two sons, Dennis Williams and wife JoEllen of Albany, Wendell Williams of Woodville, Texas; a daughter, Jody Williams Summerall of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren, Rion Williams, Nicholas Williams, Erin Barton Wallace, Crystal Barton Lewis, Wendell Lee Williams and Teresa Byrd, along with ten great-grandchildren. Elizabeth is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Floyd of Belle Chase.

Preceding Elizabeth in death were her parents, Homer Virgil and Martha Lee Cox; sister, Virgil Joyce Wiseman; granddaughter, DeNiece Williams.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, west of Hammond, on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Friday, June 11, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and again on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until the funeral service time. Rev. Ricky Baker will officiate the services and interment will follow in Blood River Baptist Church Cemetery.
