ON GOING ART SHOW AT

I saw a band. A band that may change the face of music on a local level and I am sure an international level one day. I have always said it will only take one band to make it big and create a domino effect and turn Hammond into the art and music center than it should be. Who is this messiah you ask? Let me set the mood, augustine’s february 12th downtown Hammond, the crowd is waiting in anticipation, the band takes the stage the place explodes, you would have thought you were at a at madison square garden. The music flowed like pure energy affecting each and every person…In short the force is strong with them ….Who are they you ask? It’s a name you will be hearing a lot — “Poltern Kinder”

#2

As you may have seen I have been going back and forth with Mrs. McKaskle over a column I wrote. The column was about how the city could be less conservative by letting 1 or 2 new venues open (whose owners are not friends of the powers that be) I made an off comment about the clean city award, and now I am in the middle of a war of the roses to pun a phrase. Somehow the garden club seems to have a lot of political power (almost like the Skull and Bones Society at Yale, in the background pulling strings). This may need more investigation. As soon as the garden club gives me a date for March I will be their to help “clean up” the city.

The main issues of my original article has been pushed to the background and replaced with the clean city propaganda. Don’t get me wrong; I am all for having a clean city. I think it is a great thing. I just think other issues are more pressing. The economy, the number of small business going under and the lack of support for local musicians.

So I will be picking up trash in March, I will bring help to clean the park (I am in no way saying its not a good thing..It’s a very good thing to have a clean town) I will also have a camera crew in tow to ask the real questions about the real issues, I may even stop and smell the flower in front of a small business that had to close due to the economy. At least they have “green space” in front; i am sure that helps the failed business owner feed his family. (Just a thought maybe letting him put more signs out would have helped more than a spot of grass…Just saying)
