INDEPENDENCE - An Independence man has been charged under federal statutes after a drug raid on his residence.

The raid was conducted by agents of the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office's K-9 unit and the Tri-Parish Narcotics Task Force.

Arrested was Jaronge Durr, 29, of 237 West Railroad Ave., Lot 3.

A search by investigators and Sgt. Scottie Mannino and his K-9, Bart, resulted in the finding of seven ounces of powder cocaine and one ounce of crack cocaine, according to Blair Foster, public information officer for the sheriff's department.

Also found was a Ruger .22 caliber rifle and a .38 Derringer pistol. Agents also seized a 2003 Dodge Ram truck, Foster said.

Durr was charged with possession with intent to distribute five or more grams of cocaine base and a quantity of cocaine hydrochloride, both of which are Schedule II narcotics, she said.

Durr was placed under custody of U.S. marshals.
