Ashley Furniture HomeStore Northshore today will unveil its new 40,000-square-foot showroom just off Interstate 12 at the Robert exit, about five miles east of Hammond.

Chuck Vagnier, a 19-year resident of Mande-ville, is the new store manager.

The interior architectural design includes a water effect, three floor-to-ceiling fireplaces, a large lamp wall and detailed room settings, he said.

The store is owned and operated by a local South Louisiana company, Olinde's Hardware & Supply. The 122 year-old business is headquartered in Baton Rouge and operates eight furniture stores along the I-10/12 corridor.

Deborah Lascari, who previously worked at a Covington furniture store, is the new sale manager.

Ashley Furniture Home-Stores sell only furniture from Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc., which President Chuck Spang said is the largest furniture manufactures in the United

Sates and the number one selling brand of home furniture in North America.

The HomeStore also features a “Fun Zone” where children can try out the selection of kids' desk, bunk beds and dressers.

The area also has toys, coloring books and video games to entertain the children while their parents shop, Vagnier said.

Established in 1945, Ashley offers include bedroom, dining room, casual dining, upholstery, motion upholstery, leather, leather match, occasional tables, entertainment centers, home office, youth bedroom, recliners, curios, area rugs, and accessories.

Today's ribbon cutting and ceremony is set for 5:30 to 8 p.m.
