Thelma C. Coats Boullion

“And as we have borne the image of the earthly, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.” 1 Corinthians 15:49.

Thelma passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus at 9:05 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008, while at home with her family.

She was 72, a native of Springfield and a resident of Baton Rouge. She worked for more than 30 years as an emergency room registered nurse, where she touched many lives along the way. She lived a life dedicated to Jesus Christ and knew him personally as her Lord and Savior.

Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Thursday, July 24, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home on Friday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Religious service at First Baptist Church of Springfield, 30546 La. 22, Springfield, on Friday at 11 a.m.

Interment immediately following in Carter Cemetery, Springfield.

Survived by her daughter, Dr. Michelle T. Boullion; son and daughter-in-law, Louis A. and Holly G. Boullion; two beloved granddaughters, Jolie A. and Jordan M. Boullion; and three brothers, Eugene “Gene” Allen, David and Johnnie Coats.

Preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Boullion; father and mother, Eugene Henry and Alice Allen Coats; sister, Lillie C. Trice; and four brothers, Henry, Robert “Bob,” James “Jack” and Dallas Gerald Coats.

Pallbearers will be David Coats, Johnnie Coats, Jerry Trice, Daniel Boullion, Vincent J. Levraea and Rusty Coats.

Honorary pallbearers are Eugene “Gene” Allen Coats and Rudolph Boullion.

Dewitt W. Moore

Dewitt W. Moore, 60, died Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the Richard Murphy Hospice House, Hammond, LA.

He is survived by his wife Gail Moore, daughters Kim and Kimberly Moore, Nikki Rhodes, and Ashley, sons Warren, Gerald, and Edgar, sister Gloria Jean Burton, brothers Supt. Herbert Wagner, Rev. Henry Wagner, and Joseph Wagner, 9 grand children and 1 great-grand child and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation is Friday, July 25, 5-8 pm at Richardson Funeral Home, Services Saturday, July 26, 2008, 1:00 pm at Greater Love C.O.G.I.C, Hammond, LA.

Special thanks to the hospice house staff for their loving care and support.

Daniel W. Smith Jr.

Daniel W. Smith Jr., age 64 and resident of Hammond, LA, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Lakeview Regional Medical Center.

He entered the U.S. Army in 1964 and proudly served our country during the Vietnam War, having received numerous honors and medals. He retired after 20 years of active duty with the rank of chief warrant officer. After his military career, he enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends, volunteering his time as a missionary and prison chaplain, and cheering for his LSU Tigers.

Dan leaves behind his wife of 37 years, B.J. Smith of Hammond; daughter, Tanya Marie Smith of Jackson , MS; son, Major Daniel W. Smith III and his wife, Amy of Niceville, Florida; 4 grandchildren, Stephen Daniel, Kendall Jane, Tatum Cullen and Hunter Charles Smith. He is also survived by a sister, Margaret Jean Smith of Humble Texas; brother, Clifford Thomas Smith and his wife Kathy of North Richland Hills, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Sr. and Mary Cullen Smith.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at Trinity Baptist Church, in Pumpkin Center, on Friday, July 25 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at the church at 10:00 a.m. The family requests that visiting hours also be observed from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home on Thursday, July 24, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Rev. Randy Davis will conduct the funeral services and interment, with full military honors, will follow in Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund and sent to 42062 Pumpkin Center Rd. Hammond, LA 70403.

Dorothy A. Pierson Sticker

A loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her, Dorothy passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at North Oaks Medical Center at the age of 61. She was a native of Natalbany and a resident of Ponchatoula. She will be greatly missed.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Glenn Ray Sticker, Bedico; son and daughter-in-law, Gerald Wayne and Karin Burns of Denham Springs; daughters and sons-in-law, Sheryl Chatellier and Jewell of Bedico and Robin Price and Michael of Ponchatoula; her precious grandchildren, Brandi Naquin, Savannah Burns, Lance Ferrant, Meghan Burns, Jewell Chatellier Jr, Cameron, Christopher and Kylah Price. Also surviving her are two sisters and brother, Norma Pierson Murphy of Robert, Cathleen Pierson Powell of Natalbany, and Charlie Pierson and his wife Donna of Natalbany along with numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was also survived by three step-children, Tammy, Michelle and Ricky Sticker of Bedico.

Preceding her in death were her son, Valmon Burns; nephews, James Edward Murphy, Jr. and Marvin Michael Powell and parents, Charlie and Amelia Hagan Pierson

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, west of Hammond on Friday, July 25th at 4:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Jim Howell will officiate the funeral services and interment will be in James Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery in Holden.

C. Edward "Eddie" Tate

C. Edward "Eddie" Tate, 67 years old of Hammond, LA, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 10:50 p.m. "The soul departed in the Lord does not die; it remains with God, who is the creator of life." Serving his Lord had great meaning to him, he walked the walk. He was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Covington, LA.

Eddie was born on Monday, February 3, 1941 in Great Falls, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Lloyd Arther Tate, Dela Janie Evans Tate, Baker, Windham and step-mother, Thelma Christofferson.

He lived most of his life in Louisiana, more so in Hammond. He, along with his wife, owned and operated Tate Dental Lab since 1974. He served his God and profession well. He dedicated many years to the Louisiana Dental Lab Association, serving in all offices and as it's President for four terms

Surviving are his wife, Sally Louise Butler Tate; 5 children, Michelle Lynn Self, John Roy Tate, Steven Michael Tate, Sherri Michelle Schwartz, Stacy Matthew Tate; 2 brothers, John Franklin & Lloyd Arthur Tate; sister, Cathy Baker Stogner; aunt, Joan Dominquez Tate; also survived by 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Arthur Tate and Dela Janie Evans Tate, Baker, Windham and step-mother, Thelma Christoffersen.

Friends will be received Saturday, July 26, 2008, at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Covington, from 9:00 a.m. until services.

Services will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1 N. Marigold Drive, Covington, LA, Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 11:00a.m. with Rev. Phillip Wottrich officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery, Ponchatoula.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the church or St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105

Be a good witness and don't cry, unless they are tears of joy and peace. I am in a place that no word could desribe and do it justice. God has a special place for all of His children. I shall see you again.
