John Roberts Williams, 85, Hammond, died July 16; memorial service 10 a.m. Monday at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church, Hammond.

Norman Carl Desplas

Mr. Norman Carl Desplas, 79 years old of Ponchatoula, died Saturday, July 19, 2008 at his residence.

He was born on Sunday, October 28, 1928 in New Orleans, son of the late Charles Edward and Florence Appel Desplas Sr.

He was a retired Iron Worker and member of the Local 58, New Orleans, LA.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Geraldine Long Desplas; daughter, Katherine D. Lambert; 2 sons, Norman C. Desplas Jr., William L. Desplas; 5 grandchildren, Ronald VanAmpting Jr., Christopher Desplas, Savannah D. Wilkerson, Johannah Desplas, Steven Desplas; 2 great-granddaughters, Lailah and Zoe and his sister, Una Mae Dugas.

He is preceded in death by 4 brothers, Edward Desplas, Charles Desplas Jr., Hilbert Desplas, Malcolm Desplas; sister, Millie Buisson.

Friends will be received Tuesday, July 22, 2008, from 11:00 am until the service begins at 3:00 pm at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula. Interment will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery in Ponchatoula.

Marie Bonanno Franks

She was a retired east Baton Rouge Parish School Board employee. She was 75, a native of Lobdell, LA and resident of Baton Rouge. She died Friday July 18, 2008 at the Baton Rouge General Medical Center Mid City. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd. Sunday 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Monday 9:00 a.m. until religious services at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel conducted by Rev. Francis M. Nguyen. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Eleanor Franks and David and Barbara Franks; four grandchildren, Jennifer Franks, Sheryl Bower, Justin Franks and Mandi Franks; four great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Donnie and Lou Bonanno; a sister-in-law, Sadie Bonanno and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Carl Franks; son, Ronald C. Franks; grandson, Bryan Joseph Franks; father, Santo Bonanno; mother and step father, Elizabeth Denicola Bonanno Meyers and Richard Meyers and a brother, Andrew Bonanno Sr.

Nellie Ann Locicero Manzella

Mrs. Nellie Ann Locicero Manzella, 62 years old of Hammond, died Saturday, July 19, 2008 in North Oaks Medical Center.

She was born on Wednesday, August 8, 1945 in Hammond.

Surviving are her husband, John Manzella; 4 daughters, Denise Manzella Passman, Diane Manzella Kelley, Lisa Manzella Duplaisir, Tammy Manzella Wheeler; father, Tony Locicero;sister, Antionette Wilson; 6 brothers, Joe, Philip, Sal, Anthony, Jr., Jimmy, and David Locicero; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Pulizzano Locicero.

Visitation will be at Victory Baptist Church, Hammond Monday, July 21, 2008 from 9:00 am until the service begins at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in the Rose Memorial Park Cemetery.

Jeanne Fern Tanet Weller

Jeanne Fern Tanet Weller passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 in Plano, Texas.

Beloved wife of 54 years to Heber Williamson Weller, Jr.; mother of Leslie W. Harris and her husband Homer and William J. Weller and his wife Sandra; grandmother to William Weller, Jessica, Michael and Keith Harris; and sister to Joseph F. Tanet and his wife Cecilia.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Tanet and her mother, Jessie Fern Tanet.

Age 77 years, a native of New Orleans, La, resident of Plano, TX and former resident of Loranger, LA.

She was a graduate of Millsaps College. Jeanne enjoyed singing in the choirs at Loranger United Methodist Church, St. Martin's Episcopal Church and St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. She served as President of UMW at Loranger United Methodist Church. She was a member of Metairie Ridge Garden Club, president of Fairfield Park Gardeners, and was a member of Folsom Native Plant Society.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend funeral services on Monday, July 21, 2008 at 10:00 AM from the Chapel at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433.

Visitation will be on Sunday, July 20, 2008 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, and on Monday from 9:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans, LA.

John Roberts Williams

John Roberts Williams, age 85, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at the Richard Murphy Hospice House in Hammond, LA.

John was a devoted husband, father, and parishioner of Grace Memorial Episcopal Church. He retired as Professor Emeritus from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1989.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginny” H. Williams; three children and their spouses, Taunya and David Houp, Liz and Glynn Jones, and Craig and Loretta Williams; brother, Mark Earl Williams. John will also be missed by his eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on July 21, 2008 at the Grace Memorial Episcopal Church in Hammond, LA. Visitation will be held in the Parish Hall at 9:00 a.m. and a memorial service will be held in the church at 10:00 a.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Richard Murphy Hospice House or the Grace Memorial Foundation.
