The second annual school supplies giveaway events for the north end of Tangipahoa Parish are set for next week in Amite and Kentwood.

Organizer Ann Smith, a school board member, said public officials, area banks and some area businesses have donated the funds.

The first will be held Thursday from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Amite Community Center for students at Roseland and Amite elementary schools, Westside Middle and Amite High School.

The Kentwood event will be July 25 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Kentwood Community Center for students at Kentwood and Sumner high schools, O.W. Dillon, Chesbrough and Spring Creek elementary schools.

Parents must bring their students in order to collect the free supplies.

“That is the only requirement,” Smith said.

Anyone who wishes to volunteer for the events or who wishes to make a donation may call Smith at 229-6265.
