Deon Berry
Deon Berry, 51, a resident of Ponchatoula, La., died June 2, 2008, at her residence.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2008, at Star Valley Baptist Church in Ponchatoula, La. Dismissal service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2008.
Survivors include her mother, Clara Lean Berry; three daughters, Clara Berry, Latarsha Berry and Shekeela Berry; one son, Rodney Berry; two sisters, Madine Alexander and Lillian Alexander; four brothers, Eugen Alexander, Jimmy Alexander, Jerry Berry and Jessie Berry; and 11 grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her father, Earnest Berry; brother, Joseph Berry; and daughter, Toccara Berry.
Karl William Binder
Karl William Binder, 42 years old, passed away June 3, 2008 at his residence with complications from Diabetes. He was born in Amite, LA September 20, 1965 and was a resident of Portland, Oregon.
He is survived by his 3 children, Son, Skylar, Daughters, Logan and Blake. His mother, Loretta Knight Binder of Hammond, 2 brothers, Charles Binder, Jr. of Amite, John Binder of Gretna and 1 sister Karen Barr of Hammond, La and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 8 at 3:00 PM at Cornerstone Church in Amite.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles Binder, Sr.
Grandparents, Henry & Eva Knight of Amite and Joseph and Nina Binder of Amite.
“Grammy” Grace Juanita Thayer Bright
(1-21-35 - 5-29-08) Born Jan. 21st, 1935, Ms. Grace was a native of Springfield, La. for 70 years until Hurricane Katrina changed the course of her life and brought her to Minden to live out her remaining years.
On May 29th, 2008, she went home to reside in the mansion that was promised to her.
She is survived by one brother, Authur (Mary) Thayer of New Orleans, 5 children, Donald (Dorothy) Bright of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Clarence Bright of Natalbany, La, Anna Gates of Wadsworth, Ohio, Perry Bright of Springfield and Edna (James) Kennedy of Franklinton, La, 6 nephews, 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, plus tons of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, the late Donald U. Bright. Her father and mother, the late George and Annie Thayer, her daughter Frances Murphy, a grandson, Patrick Murphy and a great-grandson infant, Justin Murphy.
The family wishes to thank the people of Minden, the staff and crew of the Minden Recreational Complex, Minden Medical Center, the staff of Willis-Knighton North and everyone else who made Mrs. Bright's last years of living delightful. She never met a stranger and would always be a blessing with her love and stories of her past.
She will be truly missed but always joyfully remembered.
A memorial service will be held in the First United Methodist Church of Springfield, Saturday, June 7 at 10 a.m. All are welcome to gather from 11:00 until services at 11:00a.m.
Any floral arrangements may be sent to the church.

Betty Lou Perkins Davis
Betty Lou Perkins Davis, 81, of Ponchatoula died on June 2, 2008 in North Oaks Medical Center. Better known as “ Granny “, she was born on January 8, 1927 in Brooklyn, MS.
She is the daughter of the late Edna Mae and W.A.Perkins, Sr. and wife of the late Rev. M.L. Davis, Sr. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lou and Earl Verbois of Ponchatoula; a step-daughter, Katie Lou Farmer of Jackson, MS; two sisters, Christine Walker and husband, Charles of Wiggins, MS, Mary Lott of Houston, TX; two daughters-in-law, Janet Davis and Deloris Davis; a brother-in-law, JW Davis and his wife , Margaret.
She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, “Trey” M.L. Davis, III and his wife, Audrey of Jackson Hole, WY, Mark Verbois, Mandy Verbois Plauche and her husband, Clint, Michele Huebinger and her husband, Jerry, Gary Verbois and his wife, Dawn, Sunny and Laura Davis, all of Ponchatoula; Tammy Diamond and Angela McPhail of Jackson, MS; 5 great-grandchildren, Breanne and Jenna Huebinger, Shea and Alexa Verbois, all of Ponchatoula, and Jordan Davis of Jackson Hole, WY; and a beloved pet chihuahua, Tutu.
She was preceded in death by two sons, M.L. “Son”, Jr. and Randall Davis; 4 brothers, Douglas, Sammy, W.A., Jr. and Benny Davis, two sisters, Lanelle Maxwell and Marie Essery; and one brother-in-law, Bobby Lott.
Mrs. Davis was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ponchatoula.
Visitation will be Friday, June 6 at First United Methodist Church of Ponchatoula from 6 until 9 pm with a service at 7:30 pm and on Saturday, June 7 at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church in VanCleave, Mississippi from 1:00 pm until the service at 3:00 pm.
Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery. Geisler Funeral Home of Ponchatoula in charge of arrangements.

Colleen Husser DeLaCruz Gonzales, 38 years old of Loranger, died Monday, June 2, 2008 in North Oaks Medical Center.
She was born on Wednesday, January 14, 1970 in Houston, Texas.
Surviving are her 4 sons, Colten Rios, Cameron Rios, Colin DeLaCruz, Colby DeLaCruz; mother, Thelma C. Husser; 2 brothers & sisters-in-law, MSG Albert “Chuck” and Tricia Fagan, Colden “Tater” and Marion Husser; numerous other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Colden Husser; grandparents, James Craddock, Dorothy Craddock Chandler, Charlie Husser, Fostena Carter.
Friends will be received Friday, June 6, 2008, from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm and on Saturday, June 7, 2008 from 8:00 am until the service begins at 10:00 am at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond.
Interment will follow in the Loranger Cemetery.

Mr. Harold D. “H” Henderson, Sr. died Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 12:40 PM at Hood Memorial Hospital, Amite. He was 76, a native and resident of Amite.
Visitation will be at McKneely & Vaughn Funeral Home, Amite, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Friday, June 6, 2008 and Saturday, June 7, 2008 from 8:00 AM until Religious Services at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel.

Harold A. Perrin
Harold A. Perrin died June 4, 2008 at the age of 86. He was born May 27, 1922, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. He was affectionately known as “Nuddie” Perrin by all of his family and friends. He graduated from Ponchatoula High School in 1941 and served in the U. S. Coast Guard during World War II.
He retired from the construction business and enjoyed his retirement on the Tangipahoa River. He dedicated 30 years of service in the USCG Auxiliary Flotilla 4-11, serving the Northshore area of Lake Pontchartrain based on the Tangipahoa River at “P-Ran Point.”
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Holyn Howes Perrin; one daughter, Melanie Perrin Watkins and son-in-law Larry Watkins; two grandsons, Wesley Paul Watkins and Lucas Matthew Watkins; one great-granddaughter, Savannah Lane Watkins.
He was one of 9 children born to Robert E. Perrin, Sr. And Mary Brecher Perrin.
He is survived by one brother, R. E. Perrin, Jr.; two sisters, Blanche Perrin Gibson and Dorothy “Dot” Perrin Hill, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 brothers: James A. “Jim” Perrin, Sr.; Dennis “Beno” Perrin; Merlin “Jake” Perrin; Kenneth “Knute” Perrin; and Edward Perrin.
Friends will be received Saturday, June 7, 2008, at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula from 10:00 a.m. until services.
Services will be held in the funeral home chapel Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 1:00 p.m.
Interment will follow in the Ponchatoula Cemetery, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454.

Oscar Tyler III
Oscar Tyler III, born Nov. 29, 1948 to the late Mattie Victora Brewer and the late Oscar Tyler Jr.
He departed this earth on Sunday, June 1, 2008, in his home. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mattie Brewer; father, Oscar Tyler Jr; two sisters, Ardessia Eley and Nancy Mae Preston; brother, Ernest Tyler; stepson, John Wilkinson and one grandchild.
He was a member of the Lincoln Park Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon until his death.
He leaves behind to carry on his memories four sons, Craig (Karen) Beauchamp, Corneilus (Frances) Beauchamp, Steven Tyler, all of Hammond, La., and Arthur (Katrina) Tyler of Tangipahoa, La; four daughters, Lacicha (Burk) Hines of Ponchatoula, La.; Benera Robbins, Doris Wilkinson and LaShanta (Demetrius) Williams, all of Hammond, La.; 35 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; three brothers, L.B. Collins of Leesville, La., Emerson Tyler of Hammond, Sevester Barnes of Jackson, Miss.; two sisters, Mattie Mae and Rosemary Barnes; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and relatives that will miss him deeply.
One day service at Lincoln Park Baptist Church, Hammond, La. at 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment, Holly Gardens, Hammond, La.
