DENHAM SPRINGS -Bass Pro Shops will present the grand opening of its 163,000-square-foot store Feb. 7-10.

The new store, one of 47 retail locations across the United States and Canada, is on Range Avenue off Interstate 12.

Regular store hours will be Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., company officials said.

On Feb. 7, however, the store will open at 8 a.m. and the first 500 customers will get a gift with purchase.

Other special prizes and giveaways also are scheduled throughout the grand opening weekend, the company announced.

On the evening before the grand opening, area conservation groups will have display booths at the store to educate customers about their efforts and projects.

The Evening for Conservation on Feb. 6 will be free to the public, and a part of the night's sales will benefit the National Fish Initiative More Fish campaign.

The store has booked celebrity outdoorsmen for appearances that Thursday and during the weekend.

Angler and TV host Jimmy Houston, nine-time Bassmaster Angler-of-the-Year Roland Martin, 2000 Bassmaster Classic Champion Woo Daves, Wally Marshall, Louisiana native and lure designer Shoestring Dubois and Bass Pro Shops National Fishing Team members Stacey King and Chris Daves are scheduled to attend.

Bass Pro Shops No. 1 NASCAR car, the Bass Pro Shops No. 20 Sprint car and the Toyota Street Team will be on display through Feb. 10.

The King of Bucks Trailer will feature 25 world record whitetail deer mounts on display Feb. 8-10 and Feb. 15-16.

Bas Pro Shops offers fishing, hunting, camping, boating and marine gear plus equipment for hiking, backpacking, outdoor cooking, outdoor apparel and athletic footwear for men, women and children.

The store's gift and nature center offers outdoor-related items ranging from lamps and dishes to bird feeders and furniture.

The 11,000-plus square-foot Islamorada Fish Company restaurant features entrees in keeping with the store's hunting and fishing theme.

The store will also offer free classes on topics such as outdoor cooking, nature photography, fly fishing, camping and archery. The Bass Pro Shops Outdoor Skills Workshops schedule will be announced.
