These stolen items, recovered by Hammond Police Department detectives and Louisiana State Police on Thursday, are believed to have come from the Ponchatoula community. Anyone feeling they may have property among the stolen items is invited to Hammond police headquarters to check the items. Also, anyone who has previously been to the police station to check for stolen property is invited to make another check because more property has been recovered. Photo by Don Ellzey
Hammond Police Department detectives helped Louisiana State Police Thursday recover stolen property at 1160 Caroline Drive in Hammond.

State police troopers had search warrants based on information that stolen property was stored at the address, Lt. Tommy Corkern said.

Among the property recovered was a Case 580L backhoe, a Kabota tractor/front end loader, three four-wheelers, several tractor and 18-wheeler truck tires, a 40-foot metal container, an 18-wheeler chassis for hauling the container and various power tools.

Some of the stolen property came from Shreveport, Texas and Mansfield, Corkern said.

The Kabota tractor was stolen two years ago from the Hammond Square Mall area. The 40-foot metal container was stolen from Houston.

Police are asking that anyone who has been to police headquarters recently to try to identify their property to please return because detectives have recovered a large volume of additional property, some of which may belong to local citizens.

" Thanks for stopping this group of thieves who were getting rich by shopping on other's privite property. If there are more out there, I wish you all good luck in the world in tracking them down and locking them up for a long, long time. They are not good neighbors, but lazy, good for nothing community space holders. BRAVO, Hammond policemen and all who helped them with this project! "

" I am so happy the police are starting to find these people that go around shopping in our garages. Wish they knew what a job is and than they could go shop at walmart. Thank You Hammond Police and State police. "
