The following comments were made from Daily Star readers after Marguerite Perrin of Ponchatoula appeared in Fox Network's "Trading Spouses." The Daily Star invites readers to send comments about the story to news@hammondstar.com

  • I feel like this woman is a total embarrassment to the state of Louisiana and the city of Ponchatoula. I could not believe that she actually acted like she did. As your article read that she "Marguerite" has become a national celebrity of sorts, I think she has become the national embarrassment of the state of Louisiana and the City of Ponchatoula. What are people thinking about now? Boy if that is how the people of Louisiana and or Ponchatoula especially. I sure do not want to visit that town. I really would like to know what religion this women belongs to. Sounds like she belongs to some off the wall church. I really don't want to hear the excuses that this was not the family she paired up with. She sighed on for the show, so evidently she watches it she had to know that anything could happen. If I had showed myself like that on national television I would be to embarrassed to walk the streets, let alone her family. THIS WAS A TOTAL EMBARRASSMENT FOR OUR CITY OF PONCHATOULA AND THE STATE OF LOUISIANA.

  • I am appalled that anyone that claims to be a walking christian would even participate within a TV show at all considering the questionable productions that FOX produces. The hearts of all Ponchatoula natives were crushed when they saw the unbeliveable outrage, and cursing, by someone who lives in Ponchatoula.

Ponchatoula was not accurately represented on this show, and I think it is up to the City Council and Mayor to make it right by inviting the D'Aimco/Flisher Family down to our city to see how we really live.

I am very embarrassed again, as Ponchatoula has been thrown into a negative spotlight where its citizens are potrayed as backyard, uneducated, unprofessional, citizens.

What happened to our Southern Hospitality? I think Mrs. D'Aimco was the one with the hospitality.

  • I think this women was a disgrace to our community. She claimed to be a "devout Christian." I'd like to know how many Christians curse and use the Lord's name all in one sentence? Her blonde headed friend that was asking all the questions was not any better. Who is she to judge someone's faith? Is that a Christian? I hope people watching this do not judge our community. Not everyone that lives here is that stupid.

  • I did watch the show about 15 minutes into it. I thought this lady was so stupid. I was making fun of her and then I found out she was from Louisiana. Not only that, Ponchatoula. You have got to be kidding me. They always portray Louisiana with the crazy ones. We are not all like that and I am sorry that crazy people get on the show. I would rather not be represented like that.

  • I DID NOT SEE THE SHOW, AFTER SEEING THE ADVERTISEMENT FOR IT, I KNEW RIGHT AWAY, TO WATCH A SHOW LIKE THAT WOULD BE AN INSULT TO MY INTELLIGENCE.

NOT UNLIKE A LOT OF THE REALITY SHOWS THESE DAYS, IF THAT IS REALITY, THEN I'M LIVING IN ANOTHER TIME!!!!!!

  • I will try to keep this comment short; it may be hard being this offended by Mrs. Marguerite Perrin & her friends' actions.

I feel she should apologize to every Ponchatoula citizen for her actions and to everyone who claims to be a Christian. She had a wonderful opportunity to show the rest of our nation our southern love of God, family & hospitality. Instead she & her friends (not her husband or younger child) displayed the South as typical close minded, ignorant, backwoods idiots.

Christians should embrace others with love and understanding, not judgment and criticism.

My comments are only meant in the most positive way so Mrs. Perrin & her Christian friends may realize that in order to be God’s warriors they also need to love God’s children. From our first Sunday school lesson we were taught every one is GOD’S CHILDREN even people who don’t believe the same as Mrs. Perrin.

    Sincerely,

    Alisa Lavigne Anthony

  • It was painful to watch, embarrassing to Christians, non-Christians, atheists & the people of Louisiana. Dignity is not a high priority for some when it comes to money.

  • I have lived in Ponchatoula all my life and I was one of the many to watch the Perrin family in the Fox show "Trading Spouses". I watched it only because she is from the quiet and respectful town of Ponchatoula. Well, I am sorry to say I regret her living here. When she got on television and began thanking Jesus for helping her for any little problem that came her way, I was in shock. Prayer is great, but "God helps those who helps themselves" comes to mind. What was even more revolting was when the "friends" of Mrs. Perrin came over for a party and completely bashed everything Mrs. Jeannie D' Amico believed in. She was not trying to seduce them to her beliefs but was trying to get to know these people. I think a doctrine in her profession is excellent. So what if Mr. Flisher has gargoyles around his house! I bet she never knew that gargoyles are on churches all over Europe for protection. Oh, and tarot cards, created in the Fifteenth century, were initially made for a card game, not to deal with the devil. My point is, as I hope everyone will read, is that this woman (Perrin) needs to actually open her eyes and her mind, I'm sure God won't punish her for trying to understand her "devil worshiping" co-stars. If she would actually pick up one of the "Magical Practice" books Mr. Flisher owns, she will see how a pentacle is different from a pentagram.

I too, was raised a devout Catholic and even was a student at St. Joseph's for nine years. I have recently moved away from the church to try and discover my other alternatives of FREE WILL. That is what God gave us isn't it? So I guess that means that we all don't have to think like Mrs. Marguerite Perrin, lest we be cast into the fires of hell.

This woman is the type of people who hanged the innocent during the Salem witch trials, and stoned homosexuals to death. She, in my opinion, needs to reevaluate her own life. I am sure (since she knows the bible so well) that Sloth and Gluttony are just two of the Seven Deadly Sins. And to conclude, she is not a star to me.

    Responsively Yours,

    "Devil Worshiping Catholic"
