    GERMAINE THIBODEAUX BRIANT and GEORGE LEON BRIANT

    Funeral Mass for Germaine Thibodeaux Briant, 101, and George Leon Briant, 103, will be Saturday at St. Joseph Abbey, Covington.

    Both formerly of New Orleans, Mrs. Briant died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, and Mr. Briant died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005. They both died at Belle Maison Nursing Home in Hammond.

    She was a native of Parks and was an oblate of St. Benedict, affiliated with St. Joseph Abbey for more than 50 years. She was a volunteer for many years at Charity Hospital, a member of the Legion of Mary and Altar Society at St. Louis Cathedral, a promoter of the Sacred Heart League, the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart at St. Louis Cathedral, the Apostleship of Prayer, Holy Hour to the Sacred Heart, Divine Mercy of God devotion, member of Christian Doctrine visitor in the Homes and Ladies Sodality at St. Peter and Paul Parish. She was a former member of St. Louis Cathedral and St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and St. Peter's Catholic Church in Covington.

    Survivors include her godchild who was her caregiver.

    She was in preceded death by her parents, Martin and Corinne Thibodeaux Briant; a son, Capt. George H. Briant; her sisters and brothers, Lucy Nicoll, Clarence and Claude Thibodeaux, Lazzaire Thibodeaux, Beulah Chauffe, Inez Patron, Martina Cormier and Evelyn Broussard.

    Mr. Briant was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I having served in the 76th Field Artillery and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion in Covington. He was also a former member of St. Louis Cathedral and St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and St. Peter's Catholic Church in Covington.

    He is also survived by the couples' godchild who was his caregiver along with two nieces.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillipe Briant and Rose Simon Briant; a son, Capt. George H. Briant; and his sisters and brothers, Walter, Lassaline, Hamilton, Gabriel, Ferdinand, James, Rose and Pearl Briant.

    Visitation will be Saturday at St. Joseph Abbey, Covington, beginning at 12:30 p.m. The Rev.Justin Abbot will conduct the funeral Mass at 1:30 followed by burial at St. Joseph's Abbey.

    In lieu of usual remembrances, Masses are preferred or memorials may be sent to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Covington.

    Schoen Funeral Home, Covington, is in charge.

    BOYD N. HERRING

    DENHAM SPRINGS -- Boyd N. Herring, 75, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at his home.

    Survivors include his wife, Billie Holden Herring of Denham Springs; four daughters, Boydrea Gonzales of Baton Rouge, Sheryll Johnson and Cherry Poirrier, both of Denham Springs, and Jeri Smith of Cleveland, Tenn.; his sons, Bert Achord Jr. of Tickfaw and B.D. "Pokey" Herring of Walker; his sisters, Hilda Daniels of Walker, Ann Stewart of Hammond and Lucille Herring of Independence; 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Ruby Herring; his sisters, Mary Smith and Lula Albin; and his brothers, Monroe, Gordon Ray and Kenneth Herring.

    The Rev. Dan McMasters, the Rev. Delmas Taylor, the Rev. Tim Lacoste and the Rev. Richard Beatty conducted the funeral this afternoon, and burial was at Evergreen Memorial Park, Denham Springs.

    Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, was in charge.

    LORI LYNN HIMEL MILLER

    MOBILE, Ala. -- Lori Lynn Himel Miller, 45, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at her home.

    A native of Baton Rouge, she is survived by her husband, James Douglas Miller of Mobile; one sister, Rhonda Himel Arledge of Ethel; and two brothers, Ronnie and Barry Himel, both of Baton Rouge.

    She was preceded in death by her father, Joachim S. Himel; and her mother, Bobbie Faye McCarrol Himel Welch.

    A graveside service will be Thursday at Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery.

    CHARLES HUBERT SKINNER

    Charles Hubert Skinner, 90, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond.

    A native of Clay, Ky., he was a retired carpenter and a member of New Beulah Baptist Church. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local 1098 of Baton Rouge.

    Survivors include two sons, Charles "Bill" Skinner and Johnny Skinner, both of Hammond; a sister, Agnes Skinner Weiss of Brighton, Mo.; and three grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Onita Bigner Skinner; his parents, William J. Skinner and Verda Bean Skinner; and her brothers, Virgil, Vernon and Tommy Skinner.

    Visitation will be today at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until the Rev. Errol Faust conducts the funeral at 10.

    Burial will be at New Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.

    OSSIE BANKSTON THOMPSON

    CENTRAL -- The Rev. Larry Moak conducted the funeral Tuesday at Woodhaven Church of God in Tangipahoa for Ossie Bankston Thompson, and burial was at the church cemetery.

    Thompson, a retired school teacher with the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board and Dalton Elementary, was a native of New Orleans. She was a graduate of Independence High School and wrote their alma mater. She was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University and Louisiana State University and was a member of the Audubon Society.

    She died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary.

    She was survived by her son, John Frederick Thompson; two sisters, Carmele Hayes and Harilyn Camarata; and a brother, Huey P. Bankston.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Herman Thompson; a brother, Leo R. Bankston; and a sister, Clydene Hutchinson.

    Greenoaks Funeral Home, Baton Rouge, was in charge.
